A weekend in Cambria

For our four year anniversary Klayton took me on a surprise trip to Moonstone Beach in Cambria. He had the whole trip planned out a couple months before our anniversary and I wasn’t let in on where we were going until we were in the car on the freeway the morning of our trip. The whole ride there was filled with exciting conversation about the wonderful weekend he had planned for  us. As we got closer we both realized how starving we were and decided to stop for lunch. We stopped at a delicious deli called Sandys.

Check out the size of that sandwich! Needless to say they were extremely filling and Klayton and I both ended up with half a sandwich for a tasty snack later. After we were sufficiently full we decided to walk the quaint streets of Cambria peering into different shops and boutiques. We ended up at a local brewery and decided to go in to try one because we are big fans of craft beers and we were waiting to check into the hotel.

We sat in front of the window so we could look out at all the beautiful trees and neat buildings, it was lovely. Afterwards we headed over to the hotel for check in, we stayed at the beautiful Castle Inn which was located directly across from the ocean and had the most breathtaking views.

After we dropped our bags off in the room we immediately headed across the street to the wonderful paths that run along Moonstone Beach to do a bit more exploring.

^we both thought this rock containing tons of other rocks was so neat we stopped and marveled at it for at least 5 minutes^

After we did our first bit of exploring we were both feeling a little sleepy from getting up so early and being in the car for close to 5 hours so we headed back into town for some coffee. We decided to bring it back to our hotel because they had these lovely chairs where you could just sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We both felt like we were in heaven and were having the greatest time just enjoying each other’s company.

After we enjoyed our coffee we headed back up to the room to change and relax a little bit before dinner, it was only about an hour and before we knew it the fog had rolled in! There’s something I love about fog, it just reminds me of bundling up in a comfy sweater and sitting in front of a fire.

The next morning we woke up early and headed down to grab a light breakfast before heading out to San Simeon to go on a lovely hike. It was cold and foggy, but perfect for us since we had been in hot 100 degree LA weather for too long. We didn’t do much talking on our hike because we were both just absorbing the beauty around us, occasionally we would point out a neat tree or just sigh and discuss how much we were enjoying ourselves.

^we actually climbed that tree and hung out in it for a bit, too much fun!^

After our hike we went into town for lunch and wine tasting, because some of the tastiest wines come from this region. I have to say the thing Klayton and I enjoyed most about this was how friendly everyone was, we conversed with almost everyone we came into contact with and it was so lovely.

^we ran into this sweet dog as we were walking through town after wine tasting and we couldn’t not stop for some pets, I mean look at that face!^

This last photo was taken the morning we left, the trip went far too fast but we had the most incredible time. Until next time Cambria, you will be seeing us again!
